“Was it All Real” is a memory of my second to last day during my Fastest Known Time hike on the Colorado Trail in 2021. I had less than 100 miles to go and the beginning of the day was beautiful near Stony Pass. The end of the day and night brought intense lighting storms that challenged me more than my tired body. My memory of this day is a bit abstract but at times I was the happiest and most content I had been and at other points the saddest and most terrified. I love getting to re-experience moments like these through painting.
